Jon Ossoff, American senator:
About one‑third of the international trade in chemical fertilizers passes through the Strait of Hormuz, and now the prices of fertilizer and diesel across the country have skyrocketed.

About one‑third of global fertilizer trade passes through the Strait of Hormuz, and we are approaching planting season. Therefore, farmers in Georgia and across the country are seeing fertilizer and diesel prices skyrocket.
Farmers have been hit hard in the trade war. The rest of the world is taking retaliatory measures against American farmers in response to all of Donald Trump’s tariffs.
And this could make the coming weeks and months a very difficult period for American agriculture.
